Title: Vent Mod Question Post by: kayotica on October 09, 2008, 08:14:49 PM Hello,
Im trying to get the Vent Joomla 1.5 mod to work on the guild site I'm helping to build. We got it all in there but it won't show the server status... we did the modifications to the file as well. What more can we do to try to get this to work? Most likely what is happening is that your host has not opened the outbound UDP port. Title: Re: Vent Mod Question Post by: Slaytanic on November 02, 2008, 08:28:13 PM Hi Mick,
Most likely what is happening is that your host has not opened the outbound UDP port. What port number or numbers need to be opened? I am sure this is my problem, but I do not know which port(s) to have them open. Title: Re: Vent Mod Question Post by: Mick on November 02, 2008, 10:06:19 PM Whichever port you use to connect to your vent server.

Got to say when it comes to the Ventrilo Mod for Joomla, you cornered the area on that. I haven't been able to find another at all. (Please understand I mean that as a compliment.) Anyway, I have been "trolling" your forums here trying to find the answer and finally decided to just ask. Instead of opening yet another thread in your fourms, I choose to ask here. My issue is this: My Ventrilo Server status doesn't show as logged in. I changed the CHMOD on the Vent executable to 777, just to see if that would allievate the issue. It didn't. Changed it back to 755 Running Joomla 1.5 in Legacy Zend Optimizer stuff ok. So, now it is down to the UDP port settings. Which host is needing to change the settings? Ventrilo host? Or is it the website Host? Probally a stupid questions, however, I can't find the answer. Thanks in advance. ? Your web host may have hardened up their PHP and blocked the function "popen" (Working on a fix for that) ? Your web host would be required to open a UDP outbound port matching your Ventrilo port Title: Re: Vent Mod Question Post by: Darkcrest on January 30, 2009, 01:34:44 PM Well, on the off chance that it was the outbound UDP Port on my Website Host, I went ahead and called in to check. What I was told was that the particular port is not blocked.
So, now it is to the "popen." Frustrateing to say the least, on both our parts. Well, I will disable this module for now, and let it rest until you can find that elusive workaround or permanent fix for the "popen" issue. However, since I have seen this mod in action on a COD Clan site, I really really want to use it. Not only is it the only game in town, but it looks like the best to beat. Just thought I'd flash thru here real fast with an update on the 3rd BG Website. We have upped and moved our entire site to another web host. Everything we want seems to working with no issues. I got real tired of my old host not providing the Customer Service I wanted and required. I also got real tired of how slow our website was acting. So, I packed it all up, and hauled butt to another host. Host Gator. Gotta tell ya, everything seems soo much better and faster there. Not to mention, I got the UDP port for my website opened and the Vent Module works like a dream. Thanks VERY much for this. Anyway, just thought I would post this update. Thanks, DC www.3rdbg-virtual.com Title: Re: Vent Mod Question Post by: Mick on February 18, 2009, 05:02:06 PM Glad to hear it!
